His connection with Chinese tea began in 2018, and he is also a contributor to the textbook "Teaglish Situational Dialogues" for tea sommeliers.
Dr. Thiago is fluent in Chinese and is proficient in four languages! His doctoral research deeply explores contemporary Chinese tea culture, with a particular focus on the traditional revival of tea art in urban China. He investigates how the popularization of tea art shapes identity, influences institutional arrangements, and transforms interpersonal relationships.
Dr.Thiago's research critically examines intersection of cultural heritage, geopolitical dynamics, and soft power within the context of tea culture. His work experience has made him an enthusiastic drinker of Chinese tea, but as a member of the Guacho ethnic group, he has been drinking mate tea since childhood.
