Meet IACT at the Berlin Tea Festival on November 7–8.
Then, from November 9–12, join us for four days of in-depth Chinese tea learning(click to learn more details aboutu this course) in Berlin.
The International Academy of Chinese Tea (IACT) is coming to Berlin—not only to share Chinese tea, but to create an opportunity for European tea lovers to understand it more deeply.
If you already love tea and want to go beyond simply drinking and tasting, this four-day Chinese Tea Sommelier Course will give you a structured way to explore Chinese tea—from the tea plant and processing to sensory evaluation, brewing, culture and professional communication.
Over four days, we will explore:
🌱 Tea Science — the tea plant, tea basics and the foundations of tea quality
🍃 The Six Tea Categories — Green, White, Yellow, Oolong, Black and Dark Tea
👃 Tea Tasting & Sensory Evaluation — learning to observe, taste, compare and describe tea systematically
🫖 Brewing — understanding how brewing methods influence aroma, flavour and texture
🏮 Tea Culture — exploring the history, traditions and cultural context of Chinese tea
💬 Tea Communication — developing the confidence to introduce and communicate Chinese tea in an international context
Rather than simply memorising the names of famous teas or listening to tea stories, we encourage learners to observe, compare, question and think for themselves.

By the end of the course, you will have a clearer framework for understanding Chinese tea and greater confidence in:
identifying and comparing different types of Chinese tea;
tasting tea through a more structured approach;
choosing and adjusting brewing methods;
understanding the relationship between processing, quality and taste;
explaining Chinese tea to friends, customers or students;
connecting tea science, craftsmanship and culture.
Most importantly, you will leave with a way of learning about tea—not just a collection of tea facts.
The Berlin Tea Festival is a place to meet tea people, discover new teas and exchange ideas.
The IACT course takes the next step: from tasting to understanding, from experience to knowledge, and from individual teas to a broader understanding of Chinese tea.
Come and meet us at the festival on November 7–8, and if you would like to explore further, continue the journey with us from November 9–12.

1️⃣ Pre-class Requirements 📖
All participants must complete the preview of the course video content in advance, become familiar with the theoretical key points and basic tea information, and prepare for in-person practical sessions and classroom discussions.
2️⃣ After-class Assignments ✍️

During the training period, participants must complete a professional academic thesis in accordance with the unified format and topic requirements. Before the end of the course, they must take part in the thesis defence and complete the final assessment.
