Tea for Harmony
茶和天下

🍃 Tea has never been just a beverage. Throughout history, it has been a bridge between people, cultures, and generations.
In today's rapidly changing world, perhaps we need tea more than ever—for its calm, its comfort, and its quiet wisdom.
Tea for Harmony is an English-language book that shares the knowledge of Chinese tea while conveying a timeless philosophy: Harmony (和, Hé). Every chapter reflects not only tea knowledge but also the values of connection, understanding, and peace.
🙏 My heartfelt gratitude goes to Jiangning Institution of Agriculture in Nanjing for their generous support. After ten years of training and research, reflection, and preparation, this book was finally completed in 2025 and then officially published in 2026.
💚 Special thanks to all the contributors to Part II. You have shared far more than your personal tea journeys—you have shared cups of tea filled with humanity, friendship, and warmth.
🌱 Finally, I want to thank Mabol(myself), who never gave up. Through every challenge and every moment of doubt, I kept believing that Chinese tea deserves to be understood and appreciated around the world.
✨ The road ahead is long, but every step is worthwhile.
With the years ahead, I hope to continue telling the story of Chinese tea to the world.
Tea for Harmony. Tea for the whole world. 🍵🌍

Postscript: With profound gratitude for the unwavering efforts and support of our beloved teachers and friends, we have finally completed this book. I had imagined I would feel a sense of release, for it represents the fruit of a decade's labor. Yet, my heart continues to beat with a certain trepidation. I find myself wondering if this book is truly adequate—how it can possibly satisfy dedicated tea lovers and serve readers both at home and abroad.
The first chapter is designed for tea enthusiasts who possess an advanced level of English and some prior knowledge of tea. Through each lesson, you will explore the origin, history, unique processing skills, characteristics, brewing methods, culture, and philosophy of tea. The section on biochemistry may present a challenge, but we believe it will help to unblock those conceptual knots that often cause confusion in the marketplace. It is the science of tea—the key that opens a door to its microcosmos, connecting academic knowledge with practical application.
I hold a special appreciation for the second part of the book, where contributors have generously shared their personal stories and precious memories. Tea, after all, is far more than a simple beverage. It is a form of self-cultivation, a cultural ambassador, and a peace messenger. It brings us together, imparting the wisdom of life and the true essence of human civilization. There are countless tea lovers like our contributors, who continue to inspire new participants. Through this gentle, sweet, and warming golden liquor, we strive to build a more harmonious world together.
Regarding the third part, I must confess to my initial hesitation. The use of bilingual dialogues marks a departure from the consistency of the preceding chapters. This uncertainty took me back to 2016, when I first began writing English blogs and sought to teach about tea in this language. Meeting Thiago in 2018 was a turning point, leading us to create this practical mini-book of bilingual situational dialogues. It was conceived as a tool for both Chinese and international readers to improve their language skills while deepening their tea knowledge. Considering that English is not yet common within the Chinese tea industry, I believe Chapter 3 holds its own unique and meaningful purpose.

China is the homeland of tea. Since ancient times, we have spread goodness and harmony along with its leaves. Now, in this remarkable era, we are humbled and excited to continue this timeless role alongside more people than ever before.

At its heart is a raw Pu'er tea cake crafted from sun-dried maocha sourced from the ancient tea forests of Jingmai Mountain, where generations of communities have lived in harmony with nature. Created in the spirit of Tea for Harmony, it carries a simple yet enduring message: that peace begins with coexistence, understanding, and the sharing of a humble cup of tea.
We hope this book and tea may travel together into many homes, inspiring conversations, connections, and a deeper appreciation for the beauty of living in harmony with one another.
